December 17, 2024 – Can I get a bead on your Overwhelma status right now? The clock is counting down on the holidays and you must act now or pay the inflated price later!
And since I can read the room, this is going to be short and to the point today because who has time? No one.
Current holiday musings:
I know it’s not just me that keeps getting asked by my sweet extended family members, “Hey, what does your ‘so-n-so’ want for a gift this year?”
How many times are you getting asked that right now? And how does it make you react?
Me? I get locked up. Overwhelmed. I’m thinking, “Just yesterday I definitely saw something online that looked like a perfect gift choice for ‘so-n-so’ but now I couldn’t possibly conjure up what that thing was”…madness.
But I do want to help out Grandma or any other loving family member who understandably has NO IDEA what “so-n-so” wants!
Are you having this issue too? I have hope for you, friend.
Here’s how you do it:
This year, when the question started getting asked, I put my foot down in my brain and made a DECISION on how I’m dealing with this issue, woohoo!! (because if I rely on my sieve-of-a-brain for this stuff, it will be a miserable failure!)
What am I using right now? A shared Google doc with my family. It’s been an absolute game-changer. Or maybe you prefer a spreadsheet, but it doesn’t matter. What matters is that everyone can contribute to it, consult it, confer with it.
AND DON’T FORGET THOSE OH-SO-HELPFUL LINKS!!
(Note: if you’re one of those super-organized people who figured this out a decade ago, congrats! I’m always a bit late to this party, but I’m so glad when I get here!)
Of course, it does diminish the surprise factor, sadly, but at least you know they want what you’re ordering for them. A sign of the times…

If you love funny women, (and who doesn’t?) this week’s inspirational woman is one the most hilarious out there! She’s a comedienne, tv show star, movie star, AND best-selling author! I give you: Tiffany Haddish!!
Giiiirrrrrrlllllll! I cued up her books ( FYI, not kid -friendly) on Audible and am alternately laughing and crying (mostly laughing, I promise!) but I’m hooked on her crawl-up-from-the-bottom-this-is-who-I-am stories. She claims she still frequently uses Groupon! “Why would I pay retail price?!?”
I hope you dive into her stuff ASAP and learn the story behind this now-hilariously famous white dress!
