Don’t blink!

Jul 30, 2024 | Ryan's Blog

July 30th, 2024 – After last week’s big, deep share (tribute post), it’s interesting to come back and write about things a bit more mundane. I received so many touching replies from everyone “out there,” as well as on the Facebook posts I made.

Truly, I felt carried by all those comments and messages. Thank you! Fascinatingly, so many of you needed that message of “the silver lining” as well. Thank you for receiving it, and I’m so glad it was helpful. We are all going through stuff all the time, aren’t we?

All. The. Time.

Current situation

Just like driving through a small town, (“don’t blink or you’ll miss it!”) this summer has absolutely flown by faster than I can comprehend. This time next week, my two college boys will be (hopefully!) packed (or packing…) and prepped (prepping…) to venture back to their respective universities to settle into their lives for fall. No, classes don’t start until later in August, but they have apartments they are already paying for…so why not go live in them? (I LOVED college…)

It’s been a really lively few months and I have loved having them here. I’m grateful to have a place they can stay, cook, play…enjoying the needed academic break.

And starting August 11th, I’ll be really really REALLY grateful (to the point of GIDDY!) to get my space back, and I feel no reason to apologize for that, Karen. With giant man-children comes multiple shoes, dishes, laundry…and also a tax on my attention.

I need to get the space back in my house AND my brain! The REFRESH and RESET is coming!!! Woohoo!!!

In the meantime, we will enjoy the last 10 days or so of having them here! Be in the moment you are in…it’s usually only for a season.

A quick report on the experiment known as “FOCUS on FUN in July” (which happened in the CALM Collaborative FB group):

We had a good ol’ time this month as we gave ourselves permission to lay off the digital decluttering in July, and instead, delve into some light fun. There was no right or wrong way to do it, in fact there was very little instruction from us, which is how I wanted it. I wanted your FOCUS on FUN to evolve the way YOU needed it.

Bridget pulled out a stalled crochet project and finished it up, easy-peasy! It went from forgotten-ish to DONE in a short time. LOVED THAT! (Gold Star for her knocking out that energy leak)

We pulled up a FUN virtual whiteboard in Zoom during the last FOCUS on FUN and look what we created! (Check out the replay here)

Take some time to celebrate the wins of the summer, I promise you they’re there. Look through your camera roll and browse. I guarantee you’ll get insight as to what fun adventures you had (whether you traveled or not).

And I bet there’s a pic in there that you meant to send to someone, so do it and make their day!

What we are excited about

First of all…Digital Decluttering with Friends will get back to the regularly scheduled programming this week. Let’s clear out apps, screenshots, downloads, and take out the digital trash! 12p Central time on Thursdays!

And secondly, if you’re available on Friday at 9a Central, join us for Chick Chat Hour! We might pull up another Zoom white board and share some fun pics! But for sure, fun and chat will abound. Drop in when you can; we would LOVE to see you!

Register HERE for Chick Chat!

Cheers,
Ryan 🙂
